The Wilderness and Austere Medicine Society of Malaysia (WAMS) was established in 2019 by a group of passionate emergency physicians, wilderness medicine enthusiasts, outdoor educators, doctors, and paramedics. The society was officially registered with the Registrar of Societies (ROS) on 6th August 2020. Although our certificates are endorsed by a national body, all training modules are developed by a panel of experts—comprising internationally recognized wilderness medicine fellows—and aligned with international standards set by the Wilderness Medicine Education Collaborative (WMEC). This ensures that WAMS stands on par with other renowned wilderness medical societies worldwide.
We provides training to both healthcare providers and layman on how to deal with medical emergencies and trauma arising in the wilderness setting as well as austure environment
Southeast Asia’s Frontier in Wilderness Medicine As Malaysia’s pioneering platform for wilderness medical research and austere healthcare training, WAMS provides a unique Southeast Asian perspective—combining rainforest survival, monsoon adaptation, and prolonged field care in remote rescue operations.
The Wilderness Austere Medicine Society Malaysia (WAMS) conducts cutting-edge wilderness medical research and delivers evidence-based workshops designed for healthcare professionals, outdoor leaders, and expedition medics. Our programmes blend scientific rigor with real-world field application, ensuring participants gain actionable skills for remote and resource-limited environments.
